Over the last seven years Symposia has established a reputation throughout Europe for performing with sophistication and sparkle.

Symposia plays regularly thoughout the UK, from recordings at Abbey Road to the opening of the Christmas Lights at Greenwich Market, as well as in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Opera House. Symposia has performed for the Prime Minister of Quebec, on the Cutty Sark and for a wide variety of organisations including the London Fashion Week and for the House of Commons. In October 2003, Symposia was the residential string quartet at the Two Moors Festival where, recommended by Classic FM for their recital, the quartet was also asked to play the solo parts in Britten’s Noye’s Fludde.

In 2004, Symposia began their international career in Spain, giving recitals in areas local to Barcelona, and since then the quartet has been invited back regularly. Concerts during 2008 have included performances for the British Ambassador in Norway, at the Tenby Arts Festival and performances in a number of prestigious venues in central London.

Since its formation in 2002, Symposia has been a string quartet eager to encompass all aspects of chamber music playing. Initially coached by Ann Hooley and Michael Bochmann, the quartet has had tuition taken part in master classes with, amongst others, the Archaeus, Vellinger, Wihan and Bochmann quartets and Gyorgy Pauk.
